Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is an absolutely amazing city. It seemed that at every turn there was a new vista of amazing old world architecture. A very clean city a delight to walk around in.
As evidenced from the picture taken from our apartment window, you can see why this is also called the city of a thousand spires. Our apartment in itself was an incredible 2500 square feet! We had grown used to not having all the modern conveniences, but here we had a dishwasher, washing machine and even a large shower where the curtains didn't stick to you.

Close to our apartment was this astronomical clock that showed which zodiac sign the sun was currently in.

The photo above shows the front of the church that we see from our window. We had a wonderful tour guide shown here who patiently answered the barrage of questions about everything from our children.

We were told of a story about a priest who heard the confession of a Queen. The overly jealous King wanted to hear about her confession and ended up having the priest killed who would not divulge her secrets in the sanctity of the confessional. The painting shows the Queen in the lower left with her priest.

Also in this church is the tomb of the "good" King Wensellas from the well known Christmas song.

When the Eiffel Tower was built in Paris in the 1800's, some Czechs were so impressed with the structure that they decided to build one here. The only problem was that the funding was not as expected so they only only built the top portion. As it is on a hilltop, they were able to claim that it was 2 meters higher than the original.

Views from the Charles Bridge with its many statues and towers at each end.

I am a huge fan or Art Nouveau from the 1890's.
